I’m trying something new with my group this summer for the month of June.

We are generally a play based center, but with pre-planned play ideas. This month, I am leaving it up to the children.

Each morning after everyone has arrived, we will read a book and that book will be our starting point for the day.

My hopes are that the kids will come up with questions about the story that will give us a jump off point for coming up with activities to do. I will have some preplanned activities just in case their ideas do not take us far enough.

Wish us luck! I will try to post daily about what book we read and what activities we came up with to go along with it…

  1. I pretty much do this daily with some pre planned things. It has worked for me for over 4yrs! Can’t wait to see how it works for another providor. Many natural parents call this technique “un schooling” have fun!
