MYSTERY ITEM: Fly Swatters

Well last month we based our days activities off a book. This month I am setting out a “mystery” item each day for the kids to find and see where it takes us…Today was our first day of mystery items & it was funny because the first thing the kids asked today was “When are we going to read our story so we can start our activities” so hopefully they don’t mind too much that  we are just reading stories for story time now & will base our activities off our mystery item.

Almost each of the kids was able to think of a new idea to use the flyswatters for. H really surprised me with the spatula idea and D was on my wavelength with the painting idea-I was going to have them do that even if no one thought of it:)

Below is all the ideas the kids came up with things that you can do with the flyswatters:

USE IT AS A SPATULA IN OUR “SWEETS SHOP”:
-Used Creativity/Imagination
-Working on eye/hand coordination
-Working on balance

-Used creativity/imagination
-Used large muscles
-Worked on color recognition

-Worked on letter recognition

-Worked on taking turns

MAKE MUSIC WITH THEM:
-Used creativity/imagination
-Created beats and rhythms

MAKE A BASEBALL TYPE GAME WITH THEM:
-Used large muscles
-Visual Tracking
-Worked on eye/hand coordination
-Worked on teamwork
-Worked on counting skills
-Worked on taking turns

-Worked on taking care of the daycare by keeping the bugs out
