INVOLVING CHILDREN IN COMMUNITY PROJECTS: Making Pet Toys

Standard

For our June Community Project, we made pet toys out of old clothing for Cedar Rapids AniMeals. (http://cranimeals.com/).

We took old clothing, cut it into strips, had the kids make piles of the clothing strips by length (so long, medium, short) and then we braided them and made pet toys.

Skills Learned/Worked On During This Project:
-Talked about helping others & what CR Animeals does.
-Talked about animals.
-Math Concepts: Sorting, Matching, Longest to Shortest
-Worked on fine motor skills with the braiding
